Bosco Verticale (a project by BoeriStudio for a new tower at Quartiere Isola, Milan) is an urban forestation project, helping regenerating the urban environment and its bio-diversity without extending urban sprawl into the surrounding countryside. The Vertical Forest is a new model for greening the built city environment, increasing its density vertically.
Inside the thematic area of Saiespring (March 13rd to 15th, 2008 – Bologna Exhibition Centre), the installation designed by Salottobuono reproduces a portion of the façade placed horizontally, and creates the spaces to explain the 10 points of the “Manifest for the Vertical Forest” and to contextualize the products of the partners of the project.
The itinerary permits viewers to participate in the new model of urban life, through data, screens, technical explanations, management and construction models, and to learn more about the possible advantages
of the project in environmental and human terms. At the end of the ‘promenade’ a staircase takes the visitor to the mezzanine level, where it’s possible to observe from above and to visualize the façade on a scale of 1:1.
